Heather Manitowabi is Ojibway and Odawa from Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve located on Manitoulin Island, but resides in Sudbury, Ontario. Manitowabi’s family is from the Bear Clan. Manitowabi's spirit name is Wabgoonii Kwezenhs. Manitowabi works as a Make-Up artist for the film and television industry for northern Ontario and is part of the film union IATSE.

Manitowabi went to school in London, Ontario at the DeVog hair design for both hair and makeup and started her career working in theatre, then to Indigenous fashion shows, then moved into film in 2012, and has been in the film business ever since.

I treat actors the same as I treat my crewmates, I don’t treat anyone differently and that’s mostly the way I was raised as an Indigenous person. Everyone is equal...I just treat everyone the way I would want to be treated.
